In Afghanistan, at least sixty civilians and thirteen US troops have been killed in suicide bomb attacks at Kabul airport.
Two powerful explosions outside the airport disrupted the airlift of tens of thousands of Afghans desperate to flee.
Kabul health officials said 60 civilians were killed.
The American casualties are believed to be the most U.S. troops killed in Afghanistan in a single incident since 30 personnel died when a helicopter was shot down in August 2011.
President Joe Biden has vowed to go after the perpetrators and said he has ordered the Pentagon to plan how to strike the Islamic State affiliate that claimed responsibility.
In a televised address, he also expressed determination to complete evacuations from Afghanistan despite terrorists attack.
