Maritime Policy to upgrade ports, boost coastal tourism: Zafar Shah

Maritime Policy 2025 envisages introduction of reforms in the maritime sector in order to upgrade sea ports, promotion of coastal tourism, curbing marine pollution, revival of shipping industry and so forth.  

It was said by Secretary of Ministry of Maritime Affairs Syed Zafar Ali Shah while talking to the Radio Pakistan Correspondent Zafar Iqbal Mayo in Islamabad today.

The Secretary said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is paying special attention to upgrade the maritime sector and several committees have been constituted to introduce mechanization and digitalization in the ports.

He asserted that Maritime Policy 2025 will be developed with the consultation of all the stakeholders including public and private sector.

Responding to a question, Zafar Ali Shah said rules and regulations will be made easy through this policy, consequently business activities will be flourished in the country.

Answering a question about the potential of Gwadar, the Secretary said that Gwadar will gain full potential after next two years as government is developing industrial estate there.
