Secretary Power department, Gilgit Baltistan Zafar Waqar Taj says Regional Gird project costing 15 billion rupees is being implemented.

In an exclusive interview with our Gilgit correspondent Sher Muhammad, he said in the first phase Gilgit, Hunza, Astore and Nagar will be linked with a regional grid.

In the 2nd phase rest of six districts of GB will connect with the regional grid.

He said after completion of the regional grid project, it will be connected with the national grid to streamline distribution of electricity.

He said a smart cable pilot project that was introduced in Gilgit remained successful and  helped to save energy.
