PM reiterates govt’s resolve to eradicate polio from Pakistan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated government's resolve to eradicate polio from the country.

He was presiding over a review meeting of the polio eradication campaign in Islamabad today.

The Prime Minister said the negative trend in polio cases since September last year is evidence of the effectiveness of the anti-polio campaign.

He credited the negative trend in polio cases to the tireless work of provincial governments.

Shehbaz Sharif further emphasized that the complete eradication of polio from the country can only be achieved through continued collaboration between the federal and the provincial governments.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was apprised about the progress regarding the polio eradication efforts.

The meeting was briefed that the anti-polio campaign is currently being conducted with full momentum across all provinces. Significant reductions in polio cases have been observed, particularly in the affected districts of Balochistan, Sindh, and Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, since the advent of the current year.

The meeting was also informed about the use of an IT dashboard for continuous monitoring of all aspects of the anti-polio campaign, ensuring that all efforts are tracked and managed efficiently.

Coordinator to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Bharath, Prime Minister's Focal Person on Polio Eradication, Ayesha Raza Farooq and senior officials from relevant institutions also attended the meeting.
