Senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has called for meaningful talks between India and Pakistan to resolve all outstanding issues, including Kashmir.

He was talking to media on the sidelines of an event in Srinagar today.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said if the United States and Iran can come to the negotiating table despite the tension, then India and Pakistan can also hold talks to resolve their issues, including the Kashmir dispute.

He urged the Indian leadership to adopt the path of dialogue to resolve disputes.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Freedom Party, in a statement, has expressed grave concern over the inhumane conditions faced by Kashmiri political prisoners and Hurriyat leaders detained in various jails in India.

The DFP said that the continuous atrocities, forced arrests and transfer of Kashmiri detainees to remote jails are a grave violation of international law.

In another development, Indian forces have intensified mock exercises across the occupied territory in the name of Amarnath Yatra arrangements.

Meanwhile, the Indian army operation in Rajouri continued for the 39th day today. The area has been cordoned off by the Indian army and locals are being interrogated while the media is not being allowed access to the area.
