The United Nations Security Council has unanimously adopted a statement, strongly warning against any attempts to dismantle the operations and mandate of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees.

The statement was issued by Council President Pascale Christine Baeriswyl, expressing grave concern over a legislation adopted by Israeli parliament banning the Agency.                                                                                            

The Security Council urged Israel to abide by its international obligations and fulfill its responsibility to allow and facilitate full, safe and unhindered humanitarian assistance into the entire Gaza Strip.
