Amb. Waheed Ahmad (Former Diplomat): Reportedly, Iran has shared new proposals for talks with the US through Pakistan. This development further highlights Pakistan’s vital diplomatic role in the de-escalation of situation in Middle East. It is welcoming development that Iranians have shown willingness to hold talks. Similarly, Trump is also inclined to hold talks with Iran. However, Israel’s dirty role makes the situation very volatile. Israelis are not willing to come to terms despite the fact that Iran has inflicted significant damage to US infrastructure in Middle East, but Israel does not recognize damage to Israeli installations. Now it seems that Republicans wants to come out of Iran conflict. Therefore, I think that both the US and Iran will have to come to some sort of agreement sooner or later. The US is posturing a hard stance jut to pressurize Iran through blockade of Hormuz; however, blockade will have to be lifted for the sake of successful talks between the US and Iran. Therefore, both the adversaries will have to remain engaged to give peace a chance. Chinese have clearly said that the US entered war against Iran on Israeli incitation.
