In India, thousands of protesters gathered in New Delhi today to demand the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner over manipulation of electoral rolls.
The protest was called by the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Police detained more than 700 protesters.
The revision of voter rolls by Indian Election Commission has sparked controversy, after millions of voters were excluded, disproportionately affecting Muslim-majority states.
The opposition parties and neutral observers say the move aims to benefit the ruling BJP as seven Indian states are due to hold elections next year.
