On the International Day for Abolition of Slavery, human rights activists and organizations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have denounced India for exploitation of the Kashmiri people, equating it to modern-day slavery.            

They said enforced disappearances, torture, detentions and violence against Kashmiri women are heinous manifestations of modern slavery.                

The activists said India is using policies like property seizures, demographic alterations and suppression of dissent to erode Kashmiri identity and culture.

They urged international bodies especially the United Nations to implement resolutions supporting Kashmiris' right to self-determination.
