Russia has claimed to fully control Ukraine's entire Luhansk region after capturing the last major city, Lysychansk.

In a statement, Russian Defense Ministry said that Moscow and separatist forces in eastern Ukraine have conquered Lysychansk.

However, refuting the claim, Ukrainian defence ministry spokesman Yuriy Sak told the BBC that Lysychansk is not under the "full control" of Russian forces.

He added the situation in the city has been very intense as fierce fighting is continuing.
