APHC urges UN to help secure release of detained Hurriyat leaders

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said thousands of political prisoners from Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), including Hurriyat leaders, remain incarcerated in Indian jails.

APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said more than 3,000 political prisoners, including APHC leaders, youth and activists, are languishing in different jails in India and IIOJK.

He said India is using investigating agencies like the National Investigation Agency, State Investigation Agency and the Enforcement Directorate as tools to victimize Kashmiris for their stand.

He urged the United Nations and other world bodies to help secure the release of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders languishing in different jails.

Meanwhile, in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Special Judge of infamous Indian National Investigation Agency Cases, Jammu, Prem Sagar, rejected the bail pleas of All Parties Hurriyat Conference senior leader Shabbir Ahmad Shah in the 1996 false Srinagar violence case and extended his judicial custody till 14th of this month.
