Hurriyat leaders reiterate call to observe August 5 as ‘Youm-e-Istehsal’
August 03, 2024

All Parties Hurriyat Conference have reiterated call for Kashmiris to observe Youm-e-Istehsal and Black Day on Monday, marking 5th anniversary of India's illegal abrogation of Article 370.

In a statement, APHC spokesman said the observance of day is aimed at conveying a message to world that Kashmiris will not accept India's illegal occupation and reject Indian illegal actions of 5 Aug 2019.

Posters have also emerged in Srinagar and other parts of the occupied territory, endorsing APHC’s call and appealing  people to observe August 5as Youm-e-Istehsal.

Meanwhile, in a continued effort to marginalize the majority community, BJP-led Indian government has dismissed six more Kashmiri  government employees in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Terminated employees include five policemen and a teacher.

Indian authorities justified the dismissals by alleging ties to the freedom movement, a frequently used tactic to target Muslim staff in the occupied territory.

Since the illegal revocation of IIOJK's special status in August 2019, the Modi regime has dismissed dozens of government employees on trumped-up charges.

Additionally, addressing a gathering in Srinagar, senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq  expressed grave concern over  plight of Kashmiri political prisoners languishing across various jails of IIOJK and India.

He called on Indian authorities to at least treat these prisoners humanely, in line with international law and prison manuals.
