In India, counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections is underway today, following a seven-phase voting that began on April 19 and concluded last Saturday.
To secure a majority, a party or coalition needs to win at least 272 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's parliament.
According to the Indian Election Commission, the voter turnout this year remained 66.3 percent which is lower than the turnout in 2019.
