Media watchdog concerned over journalists' killings in India
July 05, 2018

Media watchdog Reporters without Borders has expressed serious concerns over reports of journalists' killings in India.

The RSF in its 'Incident Report' said that seven Indian journalists killed in the last 18 months. The report also regretted a sharp rise in online abuse and harassment.

RSF secretary-general Christophe Deloire, in a letter to Narendra Modi, urged him to take urgent action.

The RSF comes out with an annual World Press Freedom Index and India is currently placed at 138th position in the list of 180 countries - 2 spots down from its 2017 ranking.

The report warned that India risked falling further down on the index.
