Dr. Muhammad Khan (IR Expert):Makkah Joint Defence Agreement has been signed between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye at a very crucial and critical time because whole Middle East is gripped by escalations and tensions. Makkah Joint Defence Agreement is also very important because Iran has also appreciated this agreement. This agreement is also very crucial because all three members Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye want to make Middle East as self-reliant from defence side. In this background, meeting of Strategic Political and Defence Committee, established under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, is very important because Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir along with their counterparts from Saudi Arabia and Turkiye will form a joint strategy for Saudi security and to address Saudi security concerns with Yemeni Thouthis. Moreover, joint strategy to reduce dependence on foreign powers for Middle East’s security will also be chalked out. So this meeting is very vital because Saudis and Turkish people have great expectations with this meeting. I think that several other countries of Middle East are also eager to join this agreement and it will further enhance its utility and benefits for the entire region. If you recall, Iran issued a statement in favor of this agreement some two weeks back so Iran’s inclusion into agreement will lead to regional religious harmony. It will ensure regional security as no force or country will be able to attack any country from outside.
