The 21st death anniversary of famous Pashto poet and writer Ustad Ali Haider Joshi is being observed today.

Ustad Ali Haider Joshi was born on May 29, 1914 in Swabi district.

He authored twenty-five major works of literature including Yakka Yusuf, Paaim Jannat, Deedar Hussain, Deedar Meena, Adam Rooh, Anjam Ghoroor, Gul Sarhad, Hakayat Lajowab and Diwan Joshi.

He also composed the famous folk tale, Yusuf Khan Sher Bano and made the first Pashto film of the same name.

Ustad Ali Haider Joshi died on this day in 2004.
