Amb. Masood Khalid (Former Diplomat): The US and Iran are showing positive attitude for peace talks and it is welcoming development. This is sole result of Pakistan’s successful mediation because talks between the US and Iran are moving forward. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has rightly said that Pakistan desires a permanent end to the US-Iran war for peace in the region and Pakistan will continue making efforts for peace in the region. I think that statement from President Donald Trump is also good sign in this connection. Peace and stability are vital for the region and the world. Let’s see Pakistan’s efforts fortify and materialize as both the US and Iran may sign peace agreement. Pakistan enjoys full international support in its diplomatic efforts. Lesson from this war is that military solution is not an option to settle political issues. Moreover, military is not an option for US to settle issues with Iran because Iranians don’t compromise on their sovereignty. Factually, Israel encouraged the US to go for this misadventure against Iran. I think that it is time for Israel to re-strategize its policies towards Middle East. The conflict in Middle East has affected the global food, energy supply chain.
