Bangladesh President decides to form interim Govt after Hasina’s resignation

In Bangladesh, President Muhammed Shahabuddin has decided to form an interim government to run the country following the resignation of Sheikh Hasina after violent protests.  

This decision was made during a meeting held at the President House in Dhaka. The meeting was attended by Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman, along with the head of the Navy and Air Force, and top leaders of several opposition parties including the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami party.

The meeting has also decided to free all the people who have been arrested during the student protests.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin has ordered the release of jailed former prime minister and key opposition leader Khaleda Zia.

Meanwhile, in a video message the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement have announced an outline for an interim government headed by Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus.
