The United Nations Food Agency ends aid to 2 million Afghans over lack of funding.

The World Food Programme's Country Director Representative Hsiao-Wei Lee based in Kabul said it can only give emergency aid to 3 million people per month.

The UN agency emphasized that this will add to an already “dire situation" and have severe consequences for civilians.

To respond to the funding crisis, the WFP has urged international community to provide an additional one billion dollar over the next six months, in order to reach 21 million people with lifesaving aid.
