The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) tribunal has upheld the government's ban on the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front for another five years.
The ban extension was initially imposed by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs on 15th March 2024 on JKLF led by Muhammad Yasin Malik.
Chairing the tribunal, Justice Neena Bansal Krishna upheld the ban citing the JKLF's pro-freedom activities.
Meanwhile, the Indian National Investigation Agency conducted searches at twenty-six locations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and arrested many freedom movement leaders including Molvi Mohammad Iqbal Butt, Farooq Ahmad Wani affiliated with Jamaat-e-Islami.
The detainees will be produced before the NIA special court in New Delhi.
