Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has reiterated the government's resolve to effective and timely execution of CPEC projects.
He was chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday, to review progress on ongoing projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The Minister vowed to fast-track the Karakoram Highway project, terming it a time sensitive strategic project due to construction of Diamer Basha Dam.
The meeting was informed that a delegation comprising financial and technical experts, led by Chairman of the National Highway Authority will visit China this month to finalize terms of implementation of the Karakoram Highway project.
The forum was apprised that first batch of 300 Pakistani agriculture experts will leave for China on Tuesday next for training in modern agricultural techniques.
Ahsan Iqbal directed the relevant authorities to take immediate steps for operationalization of the desalination plant in Gwadar and also ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the summer season to Gwadar city.
Reviewing the development of CPEC Special Economic Zones, the Minister underscored the importance of formulating a targeted marketing strategy aligned with current global trends.
He said there is need to work actively on a competitive tariff regime, especially due to recent tariff implementations by the United States. He urged relevant departments to enhance marketing efforts aimed at attracting reallocation of the industries.
