Analysts urge international community to play role in stopping the human rights violations in IIOJ&K
April 09, 2021

Dr. Khurram Iqbal (IR Expert): Pakistan has made remarkable efforts to highlight the Kashmir issue at the global level and this core dispute has been discussed on multiple international forums. After the Corps Commanders conference, Chief of Army Staff once again expressed solidarity with the Kashmiris and reiterated Pakistan's commitment to support them in getting their fundamental right to self-determination. With the passage of time it seems that the western conscious is awakening and we are witnessing criticism across the globe against human rights violations committed by Indian forces in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan is following the most pragmatic policies on Kashmir and Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed his intent on peaceful solution to Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions. For the purpose, Pakistan is also willing to engage in dialogue with New Delhi and with time we will see more Pak-India engagements. Instability in South Asian region will compliment the US policies in Asian region. United States will definitely want a volatile Chinese neighborhood as peace in Chinese surroundings will not favor US policies in the region.

Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Raza Muhammad Khan (Defense Analyst): Pakistan is effectively highlighting Kashmir issue at all international forums and will continue to do so until the Kashmiris get their right of plebiscite. The world powers and the permanent members of the UN Security Council must take notice of human rights violations not only in IIOJ&K but also in India. Minorities in India are passing through the worst time of their lives. Even the low-caste Hindus are being deprived of their religious rights. The members of OIC and friends of India must take notice of whatever is happening with the Muslims across the globe and concrete steps are needed to be taken to eliminate Islamophobia. It is highly unfortunate that present Indian government is promoting Hindutva Ideology in the country and targeting minorities in general and the Muslims in particular. Even the Indian politicians get votes on the basis of anti-Pakistan slogans that must be taken notice of.

Farzana Altaf Shah (Director General, Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency): The incumbent government is first in the history of the country that has taken initiatives of Clean and Green Pakistan simultaneously. Basic need for all living things is clean air and for it the plantation of trees is mandatory. The initiatives of the present government in agriculture sector are aimed at revenue generation as well as enhancement of production. People are motivated for olive plantation that is a good initiative. Another great decision taken by the government is to ban use of plastic bags as these not only cause blockage of sewerage but are also a main cause of contamination. We have also imposed financial penalties on the individuals or shopkeepers violating the SOPs regarding plastic bags. It is responsibility of the people to play their role in making Pakistan a pollution-free country by complying with the guidelines of the government. It is need of the time that the government ensures reforms as far as clean environment is concerned. The housing developers must also be directed to limit the use of water. The action must be taken against tanker mafia across the country as well.
