Pakistan perceiving a robust foreign policy based on friendly relations with all countries: Analysts
July 09, 2022

Dr. Zahid Anwar (IR Expert):  Pakistan has relations with various Muslim countries, but as far as Turkiye and Bahrain are concerned, the relations with both of the countries are very important and are at utmost priority by the government. The relationship with the countries has increased to further levels and they have helped us in many manners and ensured to continue their efforts in doing so. Pak-Bahrain close ties have provided significant opportunities for deeper bilateral cooperation in diverse areas particularly promotion of bilateral trade and investment, which can broaden mutual cooperation for the benefit of the people of the two countries. On the other hand, Turkish President reaffirmed his government’s steadfast support to Pakistan during this testing time. Both of the countries have vowed to further enhance its bilateral cooperation, especially in areas of trade, investment, energy, and other important sectors. Pak-Turkiye share ECO, OIC and many other regional as well as international organizations. Both of the leaders also exchanged views on regional and international peace and security matters, including enhancing cooperation for addressing global energy and food crises.

Mushtaq Ahmed (Former Ambassador): Pakistan can be benefitted from both of the countries. Turkey is on the edge of Middle East and Europe, so it could become an economic hub in the future, which could help Pakistan in their emerging economy. As Pakistan shares great bilateral cooperation with Turkey, so they will definitely be a helping hand as they are now. Pakistan also shares strong bilateral relations with Bahrain, by importing and exporting various products. Pakistan also imports a large number of petroleum and other raw material from Bahrain. So there are great opportunities for Pakistan to flourish its economy by working with various countries having greater potential and market. We are hopeful that the Turkish President’s visit to Pakistan would open new avenues to broaden and deepen trade and investment ties between the two fraternal countries. This is a good step taken by the incumbent government to strengthen our relationship with such countries.

Arif Kamal (Former Ambassador): These steps taken by the incumbent government are essential and are coming in very effectively in the betterment of the country. There was a great wariness, due to the current domestic political situation in the country but it is not affecting the Pak-US relationship. US reaffirmed their mutual desire to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries by expanding cooperation in various sectors. The US and Pakistan reaffirmed joint goals for enhancing U.S-Pakistan bilateral partnerships on economic stability, climate, and health. Both of the countries are concerned to mitigate the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, regional stability, commercial and people-to-people ties, and the devastating effects of Putin’s unprovoked war on Ukraine on food security in Pakistan and worldwide. US assured Pakistan to provide as much help as they can in term of anything possible. As Covid hits again, the US donated four mobile laboratories to strengthen Pakistan’s COVID-19 testing and other communicable disease.
