Analysts hail government’s efforts to improve ties with Afghanistan
April 20, 2025

Dr. Zahid Anwar (IR Expert): Visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to Afghanistan is very crucial and it will bring about a change in relations with Afghanistan. It will improve bilateral ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Pakistani state and government is duty bound to protect people from terrorism; therefore Pakistan’s demand that Afghan soil must not be used against Pakistan in accordance with the international laws. Afghan government should stop non-state actors based in Afghanistan from carrying out terrorist activities in Pakistan. Ishaq Dar’s visit will also foil Indian bids to destroy Pak-Afghan relations and both the countries will benefit from the improved bilateral ties. Pakistan hosted several generations of Afghan refugees and imparted education and equipped them with skills; therefore well-educated and skilled Afghan nationals are gift from Pakistan to Afghanistan as they can immensely contribute to Afghan development. Afghan refugees based in Pakistan are being repatriated back to Afghanistan as per government to government level agreement between Pakistan and Afghanistan, therefore ill -wishers’ bad designs to destroy Pakistan-Afghanistan ties through fake propaganda on this issue will not succeed.

Brig ® Babar Allaudin (Defense Analyst): Cross border terrorism and intrusionfrom Afghanistan into Pakistan is not going to an end immediately. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has strongly taken up this issue with Afghan leadership and tried to sensitize Afghan side about the havoc of terrorists’ activities inside Pakistan.  Therefore, it may be hoped that Afghan leadership may realize the fact, as any kind of insurgency from Afghanistan into Pakistan is not in the interest of Kabul.
