In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, restrictions have been severely tightened under the pretext of security ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Modi is set to visit Kashmir on Monday to inaugurate the Z-Morh tunnel and address a rally in Sonamarg area of Ganderbal.
The India’s Special Protection Group has taken over both event venues, and plainclothes policemen are deployed within a 20 km radius.
The Indian army, paramilitary forces, and police are heavily deployed throughout the Kashmir Valley, particularly in Sonamarg.
Additional checkpoints have been established for frisking and monitoring, alongside increased electronic surveillance, and round-the-clock patrols.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesman, Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, has condemned New Delhi’s use of brutal tactics and draconian laws aimed at suppressing the Kashmiris' freedom movement.
