Terrorists using US left weapons in Afghanistan against Pakistan: Analyst
April 11, 2025

Lt Gen (R) Raza Muhammad (Defense Analyst): Pakistan has been victim of terrorism for long and raised this issue at almost all international forums. Terrorist outfits including TTP, BLA and others are using US leftover weapons in Afghanistan against Pakistan. In result of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, the US has expressed concerns over this issue. Now it is responsibility of the US, EU and other countries to put pressure on Afghan government to collect these weapons and return back to the US. Because these leftover weapons are proving a constant threat to regional peace and order as well as trade and business activities. If the Afghan government and US don’t comply to Pakistan and neighbouring countries demands, then they will be allowed to take any required action against terrorists within the UN charter. The government has taken timely right decision to send Afghan refugees back to Afghanistan, because Afghan government claims restoration of normalcy to Afghanistan. The US and EU promised to take registered Afghan refugees to their countries but now they have backed out of their promise. Therefore, Pakistan needs to take up this issue with US and EU countries and if they don’t take Afghan refugees then, Pakistan must send them back to Afghanistan immediately. Terrorists have safe havens in Afghanistan which needs to be eliminated. We may withdraw all incentives given to Afghanistan if Afghan government does not stop terrorists from using Afghan soil against Pakistan. It is dire need of the hour, that Pakistan must divert focus towards next door neighbours for trade and business. Therefore, it is hoped that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Belarus will open new opportunities for both the countries.
