Analysts call for negotiated settlement of Afghan conflict for future stability of Afghanistan
July 11, 2021

Dr. Zahid Anwar Khan (IR Expert): Pakistan has consistently been informing the world for the last many years that there is no military solution to Afghan conflict and only amicable way out is political settlement. The world has now acknowledged the stance of Pakistan. Tweets of Zalmay Khalizad acknowledge that a negotiated settlement is the only solution to Afghan crisis. America’s military engagement in Afghanistan is coming to an end soon without any future political map. After 20 years of war and bloodshed in Afghanistan, the US has realized the ground realities. The regional stakeholders must make collective efforts to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Syed Abrar Hussain (Former Ambassador): Keeping in view the current scenario, it will be ideal that an agreement is signed as outcome of intra-Afghan dialogue process. Although, Taliban have the capacity to capture entire Afghanistan, yet they have announced to come up with a peace deal in a month. Now, it will be up to the Afghan government to decide the fate of Kabul. If an agreement is not signed among the major stakeholders in Afghanistan, the situation may lead to a civil war. The neighboring countries must be well prepared to control the inflow of Afghan refugees. Pakistan can play the role of a facilitator between Afghan government and Taliban but cannot impose its directions. The SCO conference is scheduled in near future in which all the regional stakeholders will participate and discuss political and peaceful settlement in Afghanistan.

Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Naeem Khalid Lodhi (Defense Analyst): India is using hybrid war against Pakistan in different forms and manifestations. India has clear designs against Pakistan with disinformation and destabilization as key components. Islamabad needs to establish a joint cyber inter-services command to counter New Delhi's hybrid tactics. The propaganda campaigns against Pakistan on social media are a major challenge and we need to counter these through transparency and presenting credible information. Indian media has lost its credibility to a great extent and the whole world is recognizing it.

Brig. (Retd.) Said Nazir (Defense Analyst): Modi government and RSS mindset are in perpetual state of war against Pakistan at all fronts. India has literally thrown the UN resolutions and ceasefire agreements with Pakistan out of the window. India is using Afghan soil for its nefarious designs against Islamabad and to create instability in Pakistan. India never conformed to the international and humanitarian norms. The world is well aware of India’s anti-Muslim policies but has turned a blind eye towards these because of its business ties with New Delhi. Indian government treats Muslims within its borders as third-rate citizens. India is in a state of frustration as it cannot use Afghan soil anymore for creating instability in Pakistan. New Delhi could now stage a false flag attack to divert world attention from its domestic problems and failures. Many fake media accounts have been established by India across the world to defame Pakistan which is another form of state terrorism.
