Ali Sarwar Naqvi (Former Ambassador): Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations are rooted in historical linkages and based on religious, linguistic, cultural linkages and spiritual affiliation. Relations between Pakistan and Iran have by and large remained positive. There is a great need for enhancing trade ties between Iran and Pakistan, and the incumbent government is taking every possible step in doing so. Currently, trade with Iran is very low, but it can grow up to a great extent. Therefore, both the countries should open their markets for bilateral trade. There are many things which we can sell to Iran, and there are many things that Iran can provide to Pakistan. There is a great scope of bilateral trade between Iran and Pakistan which has to be improved. Pakistan can import gas from Iran, which will not only meet our energy requirements and will also provide infrastructure of gas pipeline, road links and even rail links. With a road connected to Iran, we can develop more trade opportunities.
Fauzia Nasreen (Former Ambassador): Each country has to identify problems, opportunities, and strategies pertaining to their neighboring country as well as allies. Pakistan enjoys great bilateral relations with the Middle-Eastern countries, and the current government is doing whatever they can to further strengthen it. Pakistan needs to strengthen its cooperation and friendship with all countries for mutual benefit. Pakistan is ready to play its role for resolution of challenges facing the Muslim Ummah.
Dr. Zahid Anwar Khan (IR Expert): Pakistan is a very important country of Muslim world and is taking all out steps to increase cooperation with brotherly Islamic countries. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his telephonic conversations with leadership of Iran, Turkey, UAE, Indonesia and Kuwait has emphasized that there is a lot of scope of increasing cooperation between Muslim countries in diverse fields. Muslim Ummah is facing a number of challenges at the moment and their resolution requires collective cooperation and action. Europe is an example of cooperation between various countries that have different languages, culture and systems but they are cooperating with each other to tackle complex challenges. Muslim countries can act as a bloc to help each other.
