Analyst hails Pakistan for slamming attacks on KSA
September 12, 2026

Amb. Haroon Shaukat (Former Diplomat):   It is positive development that Pakistan has strongly condemned the reprehensible drone attacks on the East-West Pipeline in the Riyadh and Madinah regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Factually, Mideast conflict is very complicated and has gone very far from the war between Iran and the US. Now the tension due the Houthis attacks on Saudi Arabia has further made the situation complex one. It is just because of the reason that Pakistan is energy dependent on this region as well as Pakistan has close ties with Saudi Arabia and other countries. So it is very difficult to handle such a complex situation diplomatically and strategically. Therefore, Pakistan needs to move forward very cautiously. Situation in Yemen is very destabilizing because Houthis have captured some important areas and regions. This situation calls on regional countries to sit together to resolve the issues amicably through dialogue. These countries must agree not to attack each other and allow free movement of oil through Bab Al Mandab. However, there are other nations which are bent on sabotaging every peace effort and deal under Islamabad Accord. Iranians must also show that they are not been provoked. China and Russia must also put their pressure on the situation in Mideast. Pakistan can also play role to defuse escalation in Yemen and has been active on diplomatic fronts but we can’t force them to come to some sort of agreement.
