Dr. Muhammad Salman (Health Expert): It is unfortunate that COVID-19 pandemic is spreading at a fast pace in Pakistan. Number of patients is increasing day by day. We must realize that prevailing third wave is very dangerous and the health experts are facing difficulties in treating the COVID patients. It is responsibility of people to adopt precautionary measures in order to stay safe from the pandemic. The current coronavirus is continuously changing shape. It has been observed that many patients who recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic got infected again. In my opinion, more effective research is required on corona vaccine to ensure its 100% efficacy. Almost 18 months to five years are required to manufacture a 100% effective vaccine. However, we would advise people to get vaccinated. So far, over 1.3 million people have been administered vaccine. The state must ensure strict implementation of SoPs and guidelines to help people stay safe.   

Dr. Hassan Abbas Zaheer (Health Expert): The current wave of coronavirus is more lethal as compared to the previous two waves. In Pakistan, around 0.1% population has so far been vaccinated. The government must ensure the purchase of vaccine on priority basis as it is an issue of life and death. Although, the incumbent government has allocated 250 million dollars for the purchase of vaccine, but no order has been placed so far. After vaccination, a period of three to four weeks is required for complete recovery of the patient. Severity of the virus becomes weaker after vaccination even if a patient gets re-infected. The available corona vaccine has been prepared after a thorough scientific research. So people should have no confusion about its efficacy. Moreover, every individual is responsible to adopt precautionary measures.  

Brig. (Retd.) Mehmood Shah (Defense Analyst): Stakeholders in Afghanistan must respect the blessings of Ramadan and should opt for a ceasefire in this holy month. It is unfortunate that the United States is unable to comply with the terms and conditions of peace agreement signed with the Afghan Taliban. Pakistan played a vital role in bringing Afghan Taliban to the negotiation table. It is need of the hour to keep a close eye on peace spoilers to ensure peace and stability in the war torn country. The role of Pakistan for a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is being appreciated by the world. Major stakeholders including United States, China, Russia and others have to pay attention in bringing peace and stability in Afghanistan.
