APHC calls for observing India's Independence Day as Black Day
August 14, 2024

Defying restrictions, Kashmiris celebrated Pakistan Independence Day, today, with fervor and zeal across the occupied territory.

Pro-freedom youth bravely raised Pakistani flags in Jammu, Rajouri, Doda and Islamabad districts to mark Pakistan's Independence Day.

In a bold act of resistance, they also burnt Indian flags in several districts, protesting India's illegal occupation of their homeland. Tehreek-e-Khawateen Kashmir leader Hafsa Bano held a function in Islamabad town to mark the day.

In a related development, Pro-Pakistan posters appeared across the Kashmir Valley, featuring the Pakistani flag and reading, "14th August - Happy Independence Day" and "We are Pakistanis - Pakistan is ours."

A multi-tier restriction set has been put in place at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, the venue of the main Independence Day function, while regulatory barricades have been established at several places across the city.

Authorities are conducting vehicle checks on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, and forces personnel are carrying out frisking in the name of safe and smooth conduct of the celebrations.

On the other hand, Indian authorities have tightened restrictions across occupied Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of India's Independence Day celebrations to prevent protests and demonstrations in favor of Pakistan and against the illegal occupation of their homeland.

Meanwhile, All Parties Hurriyat Conference has called for observing India's Independence Day as a Black Day, tomorrow, to protest against New Delhi's illegal occupation of the territory.
