Analyst hails govt for cementing economic ties with Norway
August 14, 2026

Haroon Shaukat (Former Diplomat): The government is making all out efforts for boosting economic cooperation with European Union. In this regard, we see significant improvement as Norway has announced number of initiatives and incentives for Pakistani investors and businessmen. Moreover, Pakistan and Norway have agreed to undertake steps to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, education, defense, climate change, information technology and maritime affairs. Hopefully, our investors will cap huge potential offered by Norwegian initiatives. It is a welcoming aspect that Pakistan is enjoying good stature internationally and credit goes to Pakistan’s last year’s victory over India in May war. Now, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye have inked a pact and hopefully other countries will also join this pact. Pakistan maintained a balanced position in the most complex situation between the US and Iran. No other country could take such a position because of tilt towards US or Gulf countries. However, now it is responsibility of Iran to regard sovereignty of Gulf countries.
