All Parties Hurriyat Conference has condemned statements by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for misrepresenting the situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and downplaying the harsh realities of the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, criticized the Indian government’s attempts to portray the volatile situation in the territory as normal through high-profile visits and propaganda.
He said these efforts are intended to disguise the ongoing suffering of the people of Kashmir, who continue to face severe repression at the hands of around one million Indian armed personnel stationed in the territory.
Hurriyat leaders, including Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi and Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori have once again reiterated that India’s occupation of Kashmir is maintained primarily through military force, dismissing claims of peace through development projects.
In their statements, they pointed out that the so-called infrastructure projects touted as development initiatives are essentially designed to facilitate troop movement rather than benefiting the local population.
