Analysts hail foreign policy outlook of the incumbent government
April 15, 2022

Dr. A. Z. Hilali (IR Expert): China has itself taken the initiative of China Pakistan Economic Corridor to boost the economy of Pakistan. The project is part of a major initiative of One Belt One Road. There is no doubt that this mega project will bring about an economic revolution in the country. CPEC was initiated at a time when no other country was willing to invest in Pakistan because at that time Islamabad was fighting a crucial war against terrorism. Two main political parties i.e. PPP and PML-N have commendable contribution in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor project. Unfortunately, the project slowed down during the tenure of the previous government and no notable work was completed at that time. The priority of the incumbent government should be to eliminate all the technical hurdles in smooth completion of all CPEC projects within specified time. The security situation in Pakistan has improved and it is appropriate time for completion of the project. We have to look for new economic opportunities also to stabilize the economy.

Ali Sarwar Naqvi (Former Ambassador): The diplomatic relations of Pakistan with other countries have improved to a great extent. There are good signals from the United States and we must hope for the positive outcomes. On the other hand, the US has strong strategic ties with India as well. In a recent statement, New Delhi and Washington have mutually demanded from Pakistan to do more against terrorism. The Pak-US relations have observed ups and downs in the past and we should not completely rely on the United States. This is also a fact that Pakistan has an important geographical location and US can never ignore our importance.
