In Syria, government forces seized Mashara village in Quneitra province today, after heavy shelling. Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the village is about eleven kilometers away from Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

It is first advance of government forces against insurgents in the region since launching a major offensive in the southwest.

Meanwhile, government forces have also shelled al-Haara town in neighboring Deraa province.
