Dr. Shafqat Munir (Economic Expert):Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has very rightly emphasized on enhancing exports for economic growth. In this regard, he has further pressed that the maximum possible number of sectors and industries should be brought into export network in a bid to diversify trade. Prime Minister is rightly talking about increasing overall tune of our exports. Basically, Pakistan needs to diverse exports along with increasing export potential. At present Pakistan is generating sufficient income from exports of services including IT, medical and other sectors. However, Pakistan needs to diversify exports products and goods exports. Pakistan has huge potential of exporting Halal meat and government paid due attention to export of Halal meat as Halal meat has much demand in global markets. Pakistan also needs to diversify agricultural products’ export with special focus on food items. Pakistan has huge potential of exports of dried food items to global market. In this regard Pakistan needs to boost pace of economic growth along with diversifying the export products. Pakistan can explore huge Chinese consumer market by promoting barely and meat exports to China. Only then Pakistan will be able to improve our trade balance. I think that Pakistan must organize expos of products of SME sector. I think that SME sector needs more support from the government to sail in the market in a better way.
