Govt working on project to increase the yield of paddy crop in Punjab

Punjab government is working on a project to increase the yield of paddy crop in 15 districts of the province.

This was announced by Punjab Minister for Agriculture Hussain Jahania Gardezi while addressing a seminar in Khanewal.

He said the project would help enhance 10 to 20 mound per acres basmati rice and other varieties.

He said the government is giving subsidy worth 6.32 billion rupees to farmers for enhancing per acre yield of paddy crop under Prime Minister's Agriculture Emergency Program.

The minister said that the latest machinery was being provided to paddy growers at a cost of 260 million rupees this year. He urged the paddy growers to spray the crop after consulting with the agriculture department local staff so that they rice could get better price at the international level.
