49th death anniversary of legendary classical singer Ustad Amanat Ali Khan was observed on Monday.
He was born in 1922 in Hoshiarpur city of India in famous Patiala gharana of musicians.
He moved to Pakistan in 1948.
Amanat Ali Khan was master of three genres of music namely ghazal, raga and thumri.
Ghazals sung by him including 'Insha Ji Utho Ab Kuch Karo', 'Honton Pe Kabhi Unke Mera Naam', 'Mora Jiya Na Lagay' and many others still mesmerise the listeners.
He was awarded ‘Pride of Performance’ by the government of Pakistan.
He died this day in 1974 and is buried in Lahore.
