A Z. Hilali (IR Expert): Pakistan-Bangladesh relations have victim of ups and down in the past due to hostile approach of previous Bangladeshi leadership. Dhaka Observer highlighted dictatorial approach of the previous Bangladeshi government saying Sheikh Hasina deliberately destroyed relations with Pakistan. But now in a pleasant shift, Bangladeshi current leadership has apologized over previous government’s approach towards Pakistan. Kolkata Gazette reports that Hasina put all the eggs in one Indian basket and she acted as an extension of Modi government. She was running the country unilaterally and public resented against here ways of governance. Bangladeshis have a history of opposing the dictatorial approach therefore Bangladeshi students rose and ousted Sheikh Hasina from power. Now almost every segment of Bangladeshi society is happy over this change in government as well as policy towards Pakistan. Now it is hoped that both Pakistan and Bangladesh will have cordial relations in the future as leadership of both sides is committed to bring the people closer to each other. We are happy and people should be happy over this change and shift in diplomatic ties. Now students of both the countries may study in either side like we used to study in both sides in the past. Our trade relations will also flourish in future. Pakistan and Bangladesh had been playing positive role at SAARC in the past but India had been using Bangladesh against Pakistan. Now both Pakistan and Bangladesh will again be playing positive role at SAARC like past. SAARC has more potential to regional economic uplift.
