Abdullah Gul (Defence Analyst): Pakistan has cordial relations with Iran and both have commonality of views on regional and international issues. Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni‘s visit to Pakistan is significant from regional and bilateral point of views. Both countries can take measures to counter cross border terrorism. Moreover, Pakistan played key role in the conclusion of Islamabad accord, but unfortunately, hostilities between Iran and US have reemerged. Pakistan’s backdoor channels for Mideast peace are open. Pakistan is lone country which enjoys Iranian trust and closeness to the US. Talks are lone way forward.  Now the world is looking towards Pakistan for another diplomatic role to ease tensions in Middle East. Hopefully, there may be some sort of peace in coming days. Visit of Momeni is focused on cross border terrorism and energy related issues. Pakistan and Iran have serious issues of terrorism.

Amb. Shahid Kiani (Former Diplomat):Iranian and the US high officials signed Islamabad MoU, but unfortunately, now both parties are again at war. However, behind the scene diplomacy is working and Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni may be carrying a message from Iranian leadership regarding future diplomacy. At present both Iran and the US can’t afford to lose opportunity for peace therefore sooner or later they will have to come to understanding. Momeni also said that he has brought good news. I think that it may also be related boosting bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Iran. He may also be pointing towards possible resolution of issue of Middle East conflict. Visit of Iranian Eskindar Momeni to Pakistan is significant in the backdrop of Mideast escalations. Russian and Chinese officials are also concerned over the renewed escalations between the US and Iran.
