Experts resonate nation’s determination to defeat the menace of terrorism
December 21, 2022

Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Abdul Qayyum (Defense Analyst): After the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, Pak, Afghan border area has become unsafe. This provides terrorists’ safe havens in areas of Afghanistan near border. The miscreants tried to capture CTD department in Bannu. Pakistan Army reacted swiftly and got the compound free after killing the terrorists. This was a very successful operation of Pakistan Army. Pakistan Army and people are fully determined to defeat the menace of terrorism. India does not want to see Pakistan stable and prosperous and always hatches conspiracies to create instability in Pakistan. Pakistan has good relations with its Afghan brethren and wants to further improve ties with Afghanistan. However, use of Afghan soil against Pakistan is cannot be allowed.

Dr. A. Z. Hilali (Political Analyst): The targeting of CTD department in Bannu by terrorists is worrisome.   The security institutions need to review their policies to curb the menace of terrorism. These terrorists have links with Afghanistan who after launching attacks in Pakistan flee to Afghanistan. There is need for better coordination between Afghanistan and Pakistan to stop terrorism. There are inherent weaknesses in current Afghan government as they do not have control over all areas of Afghanistan. There have been talks between Pak and Afghan officials on the issue of TTP. Our valiant security forces have rendered numerous sacrifices in war against terrorism and we should be vigilant. Terrorism can be defeated with iron hands and with will of people.
