Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the government is expanding the scope of Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) and Workers Welfare Fund to ensure that a greater number of employees and workers can benefit from their services.
Talking to Secretary General of International Trade Union Confederation Luc Triangle in Islamabad, he mentioned that National Vocational and Technical Training Commission at the federal level and various vocational training institutes at the provincial level are conducting multiple training programs to equip the youth with market oriented skills.
The Prime Minister said workers and labourers have faced numerous employment related challenges and suffered significant losses due to climate change. He said Pakistan and other affected countries will require special financial assistance from international financial institutions to address the issues arising from climate change.
Shehbaz Sharif said government is ensuring that climate adaptation and mitigation efforts in communities vulnerable to environmental risks also protect the livelihoods of economically disadvantaged groups.
The Secretary General of International Trade Union Confederation praised Pakistan’s commitment to democratic values and appreciated the measures taken in the country for the welfare of workers and labourers.
