The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that the sacrifices and steadfastness of the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir have turned the Kashmir dispute into a nuclear flashpoint.
APHC spokesman Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned the Indian BJP government's militaristic and brutal policies, which have jeopardized the peace of the entire South Asia region. He further condemned the ongoing arrests of innocent Kashmiri youth and their shifting to Indian jails outside the occupied territory.
The APHC called on the United Nations to intervene and address the worsening human rights situation in IIOJK and resolve the dispute according to Security Council resolutions.
Meanwhile, Indian troops have arrested three Kashmiri youth in separate incidents in Baramulla and Bandipora districts. Rashid Ahmed Butt and Sajid Ismail Haroo were detained during a raid in Sopore, while Waseem Ahmad Malik was arrested in Bandipora.
In a related development, India’s National Investigation Agency filed a chargesheet against two youth, Waheed Ul Zahoor and Mubashir Maqbool Mir, in a fabricated case.
On the other hand, protests were held in Bijbehara against the proposed Bijbehara-Pahalgam railway project, which locals say threatens their livelihoods.
In the latest fratricide incident, an Indian policeman has died from a bullet wound inflicted by a sentry's rifle at Manigam Police Training School in Ganderbal.
