All Parties Hurriyat Conference has called on the Kashmiri people to mark India’s Republic Day as a Black Day in protest against India’s illegal occupation and ongoing repression.
In their statements in Srinagar, Hurriyat leaders and organizations emphasized that India has no moral or legal grounds to celebrate its Republic Day in the UN-recognized disputed territory under its brutal military occupation.
The Hurriyat leaders urged UN Secretary-General António Guterres to urgently address the deteriorating situation in IIOJK and pressure India to resolve the Kashmir dispute.
Every year, Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and around the world observe India’s Republic Day on January 26 as Black Day. The aim is to send a strong reminder to New Delhi and the global community that India’s role in Kashmir is that of an occupier.
The Kashmiri people remain resolute in their fight for freedom and vow to continue their struggle until the unlawful occupation of their homeland ends.
Meanwhile, posters have once again surfaced across the Kashmir valley, appealing people to strongly respond to the call of All Parties Hurriyat Conference to observe January 26 as Black Day.
Displayed by various pro-freedom organizations, the posters denounce the ongoing killings, unlawful arrests of innocent civilians, and the demographic changes being forcibly imposed in IIOJK.
On the other hand, Indian authorities have imposed draconian restrictions in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, under the guise of security ahead of India’s Republic Day, further deepening the misery of the Kashmiris already enduring relentless Indian state oppression.
Checkpoints have sprung up across Srinagar city and other districts, where residents are subjected to intrusive searches and harassment, creating an atmosphere of fear and intimidation.
Indian troops have also intensified cordon and search operations in Pulwama, Doda, Kathua and other districts of the territory.
