In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the victims of Kunanposhpora mass rape incident were remembered today on the 33rd anniversary of the tragic incident.

A report by Kashmir Media Service on the occasion stated that over 100 Kashmiri women and minor girls were raped by Indian troops on this day in 1991.

It lamented that those involved in the heinous crime were never brought to justice.

The report said the impunity given by India to its troops under draconian laws is the reason behind such tragedies.

It pointed out that the continued Indian state terrorism has rendered about 23,000 women widowed while about three dozen Kashmiri women were facing illegal imprisonment under black laws for raising their voice for UN-recognized right to self-determination.

Meanwhile, in a statement, incarcerated All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Shabbir Ahmad Shah said India is using rape of women as a weapon of war to humiliate and terrorize the Kashmiris and break their resolve for freedom.

He denounced the horrific incident of Kunanposhpora mass rape by Indian troops on this day in 1991 and said it is an example of India using rape as a tool of state terrorism.

Speakers at a seminar in Islamabad condemned the role of Indian government and its judiciary in protecting the troops involved in incidents like Kunanposhpora mass rape.

They urged the international community to take cognizance of Indian brutalities and play role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
