Quality & hygienic food being ensured to Hajj pilgrims: Ministry

Ministry of Religious Affairs is ensuring provision of quality and hygienic food to pilgrims of government Hajj Scheme.

This was stated by Chief Food Coordinator Khalifa Takkar in an interview with Radio Pakistan's Special Correspondent Muhammad Akram Khan in Makkah on Wednesday.

He said that 13 catering companies are providing healthy food with Pakistani taste to the pilgrims in ten sectors of Makkah. He said a food coordinator and an assistant food coordinator have been deployed in each sector to ensure quality of food, while two people are detailed in catering companies' kitchen to monitor the cooking process and the quality.

Khalif Takkar said Hujjaj are given three times meal with a good menu of mutton, chicken, rice, vegetables, sweet dish, Lassi, fruit, and mineral water. He said the menu is also revised in view of pilgrims' demand and recommendations.

The Chief Food Coordinator told that everything from cooking, packing, and distribution of food are undertaken in hygienic manner.

He said Pakistani spices are used in cooking the food. He said food is reserved and stored in hotpots in pilgrims' buildings if they are not available during the meal timings because of their prayers at the Haram.

Meanwhile, pilgrims expressed their satisfaction over the quality and standard of the food served to them.
