Gilgit-Baltistan has immense potential of tourism: Muhammad Iqbal

Former Member Legislative Assembly of Gilgit-Baltistan Haji Muhammad Iqbal has said that Gilgit-Baltistan has immense potential of tourism and the country can make it an economic tool by boosting its tourism industry.

In exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan News and Current Affairs Channel on Tuesday, he said Gilgit-Baltistan has the world's best picturesque sites including beautiful waterfalls, lakes, meadows, deserts, and skiing resorts.

He said all basis facilities for tourists are available and the general public hopes that government under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan will take practical measures to harness massive tourism potential of Gilgit-Baltistan

He said Gilgit-Baltistan is most peaceful area in the world where the tourists feel safe and happy due to peaceful and inspiring hospitality of the local public.

Haji Muhammad Iqbal said most famous sites in the region are Bagrote Valley, Naltar Valley, Attabad Lake, Chaqchan Masjid, Rama Valley, Sheosar Lake, Skardu Valley, Satapara Lake, Deosai Plane, Sarfaranga Cold Desert, Rakaposhi View Point, Khaplu Fort, Thalley Valley, Hushey Valley, Manthokha Water Fall,

Haji Iqbal said that there are vast opportunities for tourists in Gilgit-Baltistan including mountaineering, trekking, Trophy Hunting, Fish Angling, Mountain Biking, River Rafting, Paragliding and Camping.

The Ex-MLA said that the rivers in the area are capable to generate over 100 thousand megawatt electricity and if the government focuses on this sector, the country can generate surplus energy in the region.
