Session of Sindh Assembly is underway at new provincial assembly building in Karachi to elect the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the house.

Speaker Agha Siraj Ahmed Durrani is chairing the session.

Voting for election for speaker through a secret ballot is underway in the house.

Our Karachi correspondent reports that Pakistan People's party has nominated Syed Awais Qadir Shah as its candidate for Speaker and Naveed Anthony for deputy speaker while MQM Pakistan has fielded Sofia Saeed Shah as its candidate for Speakership and Rashid Khan for Deputy speaker.

Earlier, at the start of session, nine independent candidates who had joined Sunni Ittehad Council and a member of Jamaat-e-Islami took oath.
