November 27, 2020

Mushtaq Ahmed Mehar (Former Ambassador): Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is an effective platform to highlight the regional issues including Islamophobia, Afghan peace process, and Kashmir and Palestine disputes. It is an opportunity for Pakistan to expose India's state terrorism at international front. We have already provided sufficient evidences, which prove that Indian involvement in subversive activities to destabilize Pakistan. The West must realize that irrational hatred against Muslims is posing serious threat to global peace. The innocent Muslims in IIOJ&K are being targeted on the basis of religion. The Muslims in India are living under miserable conditions. There is a systematic anti-Muslim campaign in India being sponsored by the Modi regime. Indian government has exceeded all limits of atrocities in IIOJK. The India government has malicious agenda to change demography of Kashmir through illegal settlements of Non Kashmiri Hindu in the held valley.

Lt. Gen Retd Raza Muhammad Khan (IR Expert):  The long overdue meeting of OIC was an opportunity for Pakistan to present its stance on regional and global issues. The Foreign Minister shah Mehmood Qureshi highlighted various issues, including Afghan reconciliation process, India's involvement in terrorist activities to sabotage peace in Pakistan, FATF issue and Islamophobia.  We have seen a clear shift in global politics in recent years.  It is highly important for the Muslim countries to make policies in accordance with the changing political scenario of the world. The OIC must review and revise its mandate to effectively highlight the issues of the Muslim world at international front for possible solutions. The Muslim countries should make collective efforts to resolve the issue of Islamophobia.

Shahid Hassan Siddiqui (Economist): It is highly appreciable that the incumbent government is taking corrective measures to uplift the economy. Subsidizing the construction industry would boost economic activities and generate massive job opportunities in the country. There are more than seventy other industries directly linked with the construction industry. Increasing the construction activities will automatically strengthen the economy in short span of time. The Prime Minister Imran Khan is taking personal interest in bringing reforms in the industrial sector. Unfortunately Covid-19 pandemic has adversely affected the global economy. Pakistani economy also faced the consequences of the pandemic however the government has controlled the situation through wise strategy. It is a good omen that despite all the challenges we have seen increase in the foreign exchange reserves.

Mirza Ikhtiyar Baig (Economist): The incumbent government is heading towards right direction as far as economic growth is concerned. The bold and timely decisions of the government have resulted in the industrial development. We have successfully overcome the energy crises, which strengthened the industrial sector. The government has provided a congenial atmosphere to international and national investors. The industrial growth has generated jobs for unemployed youth and skilled labor. The business friendly policies have flourished the local industry. The growth in textile industry has increased exports and decreased imports. Pakistani Textile items are high in demand in international markets. The industry needs to work in its full capacity and the government is committed to facilitate the business community and expand the industrial sector.
