Somalian President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed has suspended the powers of Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble over accusations of corruption and misappropriation of public funds.

The surprise announcement came as the two leaders clashed over delays in ongoing parliamentary elections.

In a statement, the president said other members of the Council of Ministers will continue their services in accordance with the laws and regulations of the country.
